Kanjanur Temple Timings History
As per the Legend, Agni (God of Fire) did penance here for Lord Siva, hence the name Agneeswarar for Lord Siva. Kalathira Dosha Nivarana Pooja will be performed at this temple. Lord Brahma was blessed with a vision of Lord Siva’s marriage with Goddess Parvathi at this place. it is believed that Lord Brahma installed Linga here and offered prayers, hence the name Brahma Linga. There is no separate shrine for Sukran and said that Sukran resides in Lord Siva’s stomach.
During Vamana Avatar, Lord Vishnu who disguised himself as a Brahmin boy poked Sukran’s eye for which he lost his vision. His vision was restored after performing penance for Lord Siva at this place.
